Today, its about 130 degrees out here in the desert....I've seen enough camels to make my eyes tired...This is my view every damn day...lol...it's unbelievable HEAT but its something you get accustomed to. During the summers by 6am its about 95 degrees and the sun isn't even up yet...by noon, it's defininately 130 degrees....The sand blows like no other and during some parts of the year, so some sort of eye protection is a must...Nevertheless, Oman is a very beautiful country to visit...The people are friendly and it's a an easy place to learn your way around...
On another note, the one thing that you do have to worry about is the "Camel Spider". They are about the size of an adult's hand, and I've seen them as big as a small pizza! Luckily, they aren't poisonous, but they have a bite that can drain alot of blood from you...Just be aware of where you step at night and everything should be okay.
Just remember to check you shoes each morning and keep your area clean to keep them from finding shelter in your house. The crazy thing about these spiders is that they can run a max speed of 20mph and they make whistling noises as they sprint across the sand. But besides the huge spiders, very hot weather, and learning the complex Arabic language...this place is lovely! There are only two major cities within the entire country, so you shouldn't have a problem trying to figure out the best place to go. You have Muscat, which is to the North of the country, and you have Salalah, which is in the South.
